“Auri.” Christian smiled brightly as he said my name. “You looked amazing up there.”

“Christian, hey. Thank you. I’m sure my sisters looked flawless, but I’m just glad I managed to keep up.”
In my heels, we were almost the same height, and I was able to look into his blue eyes without straining my neck.

“Well, I don’t know about your sisters, but you did great.”

“Thank you, I appreciate it.” I smiled and took a nervous sip of my drink. I never did well at accepting compliments. “So, you know who I am, but who are you supposed to be?”

“Are you kidding?” He tried to look affronted and pulled open his suit jacket. “Don’t you watch TV? I’m the guy from Miami Vice.”

I winced and shook my head. “Sorry, no idea what that is. Annette probably would though.”

“Are you trying to call me old?”
​
“Sorry,” I said again and laughed. “Cop shows aren’t my thing.”

“But you know it’s a cop show!”
​
“That’s about all I know.”
